Coding and Robotics After school and School Holiday Programs

"Ako" means co-learning or to learn together in Mori, which reflects our commitment to teachers and students to provide a fun and interactive learning environment, while increasing creativity and collaboration.

We are a Member of the Ministry of Educations Professional Learning & Development (PLD) Provider Panel, operating since 2016 Nationwide in New Zealand.

Our holiday programs are designed to be interactive and hands-on, encouraging teachers and students to learn by doing and by working together. We believe that this co-learning approach is the most effective way to engage young minds and spark a love of learning.
Our main aim for the our program is to provide a fun and exciting time for our students to enjoy engaging with different technologies and meeting and mixing with like-minded people.

We invite parents on presentation day, usually at the last day of our after school program and end of the last day of our Holiday program.
Parents get to see what their children have been working on and how they present it. It will be a great topic to discuss with children at the dinner table.

Our extracurricular programs are suitable for Primary and Intermediate students aged between 7-13. They will learn Logical & Conditional Thinking, Problem Solving, Computational Thinking, Critical Thinking, Critical Algorithmic Thinking - Critiquing Algorithms bias & risk and AI Prompt Engineering.

Depending on the students level of experience and time with us, students learn the technical skills whether it be visual (block coding) or text coding (HTML/CSS, Python & Javascript)

Students will also learn the all important soft skills throughout the program from group projects and presentation - Team work, Design & planning, Communication, Time management, Agile project management, Online Etiquette, Presenting/Public Speaking, Conflict resolution, Entrepreneurship.

4-day AkoTech Holiday Program - Takapuna Intermediate School
AkoTech's 4-day Holiday Program is a fun, future-focused experience designed for curious and creative kids aged 7 - 14. Whether your child is interested in building games, websites, apps, or exploring the world of AI, our project-based approach encourages every student to create something they're proud of, while developing real-world tech skills.

What We Teach
Our programs are built around project-based learning. Students are encouraged to think creatively, follow their own ideas, and build something original, with guidance and support from our instructors every step of the way.

During the program, students will explore at least one of the following focus areas:

Game Design
Programming
Web Development
Curious Minds (AI, innovation & entrepreneurship)
Every stream opens up exciting opportunities to learn through doing, whether they're designing a game, launching a website, or using AI to solve real-world problems.

We have a final presentation on the last day (3rd July) from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Parents are encouraged to drop in to see what students have been working on and celebrate their creativity.

What to Bring
A reliable laptop is preferred.

We recommend a laptop less than 5 years old with a working battery and an updated operating system. Laptops generally offer the best experience across all our tools, including Scratch, Python IDEs, and web-based editors.
Bringing a Chromebook or tablet?

These devices are welcome and work well with many of our browser-based tools like Scratch. However, some advanced features or tools may not be fully supported. We'll support students with these devices as best we can, but there may be limitations.
