Driving Creek Railway and Potteries

Enjoy a scenic 1 hour train ride on this world-class mountain railway. Travel through regenerating and replanted native forest, including the great Kauri, with unique pottery sculptures lining the track. The railway line includes 2 spirals, 3 short tunnels, 5 reversing points and several large viaducts as it climbs up to the mountain-top terminus.
This splendid building - the 'Eyefull Tower' gives spectacular views out over the Hauraki Gulf and islands. Your driver will tell the story of our innovative founder, the late Barry Brickell, who originally started building the railway to bring clay to the potteries.
Ask to visit the Wildlife Sanctuary where predator free fencing ensures the safety of natives like Tui, Kereru (wood pigeons) and gecko. See exceptional outdoor art works as you wander the area.
Distinctive works by the acclaimed artist Barry Brickell & our own potters and sculptors are on display and are available for purchase at the shop, along with souvenirs & books.
Purchase the hugely popular pre-packaged children's bricks, made on-site.
As we do not have food or drink facilities at present we suggest you bring your own.
