SEW MUCH FUN, in Blockhouse Bay, teaches sewing to Adults, Teens and Kids 7 years and over. Students learn the basics of sewing in a simple, creative, and fun way. While enjoying learning to sew, children and youth develop important life and career skills such as problem-solving, patience and perseverance. Adults get a chance to get away from their usual routine and have fun developing a useful skill. Everyone has a great sense of pride and achievement when they complete a project. Students follow a structured system consisting of a workbook with a set of 8-9 clothing patterns which they complete during the course of around 8 to 9 months. The cost of the workbook and patterns is $50. All students are to bring their own material, thread, and trimmings which should cost around $5 to $15 per item. Sewing machines and tools are provided. Students can continue for as long as they want to. However, I can assure you that you will want to keep on sewing as you progress from one skill level to the next. For children 7 to 17 years, the fee for a one-hour class is $25 and for a two-hour class the fee is $40. For adults 18 and over, the fees are $35 for a one-hour class and $60 for a two-hour class. The fees are due to be paid at the start of each class. Monthly payment is preferred and should be made on or before the first class of each month. Small classes of 2-4 students per class ensure individual attention.
